LAST NEWS:

- NEW! Further to the meeting of the General assembly of the FORUM on April 26, 2008, (read the minutes here in French), the FORUM has restructured its activities into FIVE PROJECT-GROUPS. Visit their specific sections and do contribute to their work!

- NEW! In particular, the FORUM invites you to respond to the survey made in the framework of its project CHARTER OF COLLECTIVE RIGHTS & GOODS.

- NEW! The FORUM is a partner of the initiative WHO IS YOUR CANDIDATE? addressed to European political parties ahead of the European elections in June 2009. Sign this petition calling on European political parties to designate, before the elections, the person they propose to the presidency of the Commission.

- THE European Parliament intends to invite Civil Society spokespersons for a hearing on 18 September 2008 about the Law of European Citizens Initiative.

THE CITIZENS’ AGORA

- The second CITIZENS’ AGORA was held on 12-13 June 2008 and was devoted to climate change and sustainable development.

- Read the final texts adopted by the 5 workshops. They have a first solid feature: all associations of European civil society present at the AGORA are in agreement - beyond their own sectoral concerns - that the EU should be much more ambitious than it is already in the fight against climate change and promoting sustainable development.

- In concluding this AGORA, the FORUM decided:

  • To write a summary of the conclusions from the 5 workshops,
  • To create, within European civil society, a process to evaluate the two AGORA experiments (November 2007 and June 2008) whose findings should be submitted to Parliament before the European elections in June 2009.

If you want to take part in these two initiatives, please contact the Group DEMOCRACY within the FORUM. Thank you for your cooperation.

June 30, 2008.
